Do you have Daddy Issues?

Have you ever met a really nice guy and the relationship started out amazing, however after you begin to feel that he is really into you, you start pushing him away and sabotage the relationship? Do you get jealous easily or pick fights over the stupidious things?

Then maybe you have some daddy issues! Parents don’t mean to screw you but they do, by transferring all of their emotional baggage, bad behavior and faults onto you.

You may not realize it however, your relationship with your parents create the foundation for all of your relationships in your life and ultimately it has a profound impact on our romantic relationships and how we are triggered.

Not convinced, just take a moment to think about your parent’s relationship. Do you see any similarities between their relationship and your romantic relationship? Or did your father abandon you? If so this may be blocking your from attracting a happy healthy relationship.   If any of this sounds familiar, then its time to go to work, as there are not quick fixes for deeply rooted behaviors, habits and limited beliefs.

Here are 3 steps to eliminate your parental issues:

  • Acknowledge that you do have daddy or mommy issues
  • Seek to identify the behaviors, habits and triggers that are showing up in your relationships
  • Work with a coach to guide you through techniques to break free from your parental issues

Im Thankful for my dad!

I am so thankful for being blessed to have James Sheppard as my dad! He has treated me like a princess and has worked hard to ensure that I had the confidence and self esteem to appreciate that I am enough and worth it – just the way I am.  He also taught me the importance of shining brightly in the world by sharing my gifts to bring happiness IMG_9690and serve others.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2016 I lost my dad, Jimmy Sheppard. He transitioned peacefully from this life after a gradual decline in health due to Cardiac Arrest resulting in Anoxic Brain Injury in October 2015. He was surrounded and supported by his friends, children, grandchildren, 3 sisters and a host of nurses during the last days of his life.

“Jimmy” or “Shep” as he is affectionately called, relocated to the New Jersey. Jimmy worked at the Frick Collection in New York City until he begin his career as a Fashion Designer, Photographer and Restaurateur, the founder and CEO of Shep’s House of Fashion, Shep’s Art Fashion, Nova, Cantino Man and Shep’s King Fish Seafood Restaurant. Jimmy was ahead of his time with his many fashion design and art-work ranging from jewelry to statues. He has collaborated with Alvin Ailey and places like the Copa Cabana to showcase his fashion designs and artwork has appear in several galleries, festivals and events on the east coast USA. Jimmy was also a licensed Radio Disc Jockey in NYC, and a musician mastering the Guitar and Keyboard. Jimmy eventually purchased a home and settled in Chesapeake, VA and later moved to Durham, NC for a short period of time where he took ill, before returning to Virginia Beach, VA.
